Plans are underway by the HEA to establish a new National Academy for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning which aims to consolidate the activities of existing Teaching and Learning initiatives. It is envisaged that the new entity will be established in 2012 following consultation with the Higher Education academic community. One of the functions of this new entity will be to administer a national grants initiative, details of which will be posted here when available.
NAIRTL has disbursed more than 160 grants nationally to projects spanning all major discipline areas over the past four years. The objective of the national grants initiative is to provide financial support to research proposals that endeavour to enhance student learning through developing innovative and creative approaches to teaching and assessment.
