The 2007-9 UCD Fellowships in Teaching and Academic Development scheme was conceived as a hybrid model to support both the development of institutional academic leadership and educational solutions to strategically important issues at institutional level (Noonan & Redmond 2007). The scheme was made possible through a successful application for funding from the Higher Education Authority’s Strategic Initiative Fund (SIF 1).
