This report evaluates the impact of research projects that were supported by the NAIRTL grants initiative from 2007-2010.

Proceedings of the National Academy's 5th Annual Conference. Designed and collated by Catherine O’Mahony, NAIRTL, with assistance from Avril Buchanan, UCC. Subthemes: Students as Co-Creators of Knowledge, Civic Engagement and Social Responsibility, the First Year Experience, Engaging Large Classes, and Technology Enhanced Learning. This conference was organised in collaboration with the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching, NUI Galway.

This publication details the findings of a collaborative project examining the implications of Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences for curriculum and assessment in Ireland. The print version was published by the Education Department, University College Cork in April 2000. The digitised version is made available by NAIRTL.

This book, adapted from an original text written by Phil Race, is designed to support postgraduate students who are beginning to teach. It includes sections on small group teaching, lecturing and assessment and this second edition contains additional case studies. This publication costs €10 or can be purchased in conjunction with its sister publication "In At The Deep End: Postgraduate Students' Experiences of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education" for the combined cost of €15.

A selection of extracts from documents relating to the history of Irish education from the earliest times to 1922 available as PDF files on a CD. Volume 1 deals with the whole island of Ireland up to 1922; Volumes 2 and 3 deal separately with northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland from 1922 to the 1980s. Please note there will be a charge of €10.00 to cover the processing & postage of each CD. An invoice will issue with CD.

The 2007-9 UCD Fellowships in Teaching and Academic Development scheme was conceived as a hybrid model to support both the development of institutional academic leadership and educational solutions to strategically important issues at institutional level (Noonan & Redmond 2007). The scheme was made possible through a successful application for funding from the Higher Education Authority’s Strategic Initiative Fund (SIF 1).

Proceedings of the 1st and 2nd Symposia in the NAIRTL Bologna Series held at the CIT School of Music, Cork and the Science Gallery, Trinity College Dublin.

Nearly 2700 survey responses were gathered from employers and the higher education sectors to elicit views on the integration of global generic competences into the curriculum.

First annual report covering the period February to December 2007. The first part of the report describes structures and strategies adopted by NAIRTL. The second part includes thirty case studies from partner institutions illustrating approaches to integrating research with teaching and learning.

Keynote presentation of the NAIRTL November 2007 conference

A short, clear, readable handbook to introduce teachers to the concept of Learning Outcomes, and how to write them. Learning outcomes express what students are expected to achieve, and how they are expected to demonstrate that achievement. The 1999 Bologna Agreement committed all third level institutions in Europe to describe their modules and programmes in terms of learning outcomes by 2010.
