Awards for Excellence in Teaching Working Group

The Excellence in Teaching Awards Working Group was tasked with the following:

  • development of principles to guide the process of establishing a national scheme of awards for teaching and learning in higher education
  • provision of advice on issues relating to the awards scheme
  • development of documents and criteria for assessment of applications for awards
  • making recommendation to the Management Board on the composition of the assessment board
  • monitoring and evaluation of the National Awards Programme for Excellence in Teaching

The Awards initiative was open to thirty seven Higher Education Institutions in Ireland and there was great national interest in this sheme with very high participation levels across the country.

The National Excellence in Teaching Awards Working Group provided regular inputs and feedback in relation to this National Initiative. Award recipients were invited to provide workshops to Higher Education Institutions around Ireland to enable the sharing of good practice in the integration of research, teaching and learning.
